how can i set excel to round up to a specified number?

for reasons both boring and rubbish, i need to get the computer to round up numbers only to certain decimals. Te decimals are x.25, x.5 and x.75. However, when it goes above x.75 it is round to the nearest whole number. For example, when I ask excel to change a 3.5 value up by 0.5 I want it to round up to the next acceptable value, which in this example would be 4.25, but it is coming up with 4.0. Help!

I’m not sure you are going to get what you want without some more of the “boring and rubbish”, but here is my best attempt based on what you explained… maybe it will at least nudge you in the right direction

=IF(CEILING(A1, 0.25)=CEILING(A1, 1),CEILING(A1,1)+0.25,CEILING(A1, 0.25))
